Mykonos Town

In Greek mythology Mykonos was the location of the battle between Zeus and the Titans,and the island was named in honor of Mykons, son of Anios who was a son of Apollo and nymph named Rio.
Today, Mykonos is a very cosmopolitan destination amongst the Greek islands and widely recognised as one of the great travel meccas.
Proudly wears the name"the jewel" of the Aegean Sea.
Landmarks :
Petros the Pelican - an old celebrity of the town's waterfront, "Petros" has been the official mascot of Mykonos for over 50 years.
Mykonos windmills - from as early as the 16th century, they are one of the most recognized landmarks of Mykonos
Little Venice - here the buildings have been constructed right on the sea's edge with their balconies overhanging the water.
Paraportiani - one of the most famous architectural structures in Greece. Its name means inner or secondary door which it was to the Medieval stone walls which encircled the area.

Mykonos' main communities are Chora, the island's port town and capital, and Ano Mera. Mykonos Town (Chora) is a stunningly picturesque Cycladic town with a maze of tiny streets and whitewashed steps lanes, houses and churches, gathered around its harbour in the middle of a wide bay. Ano Mera is a small village on the middle of the island, and the only inland settlement on the whole of Mykonos, about 7 km east of Mykonos Town.
